Contains step-by-step approach on how to use FrontPage and FTP clients to upload your website.

What is FTP software?

FTP software allows you to upload html files from the hard drive on your computer to your Web server. You can also use FTP software to download html files from your Website and to edit/delete files on the Web server (such as changing names of html files)

Where can I get it?

You can download it for free. We recommend SmartFTP or CuteFTP , however both only work on Windows 95/98 and NT. Macintosh users need to download Fetch (click here for a Fetch tutorial).

How do I set up the FTP software?

Once you download an FTP package and set it up, you can run the program and you will see a window like this one (example is WS_FTP):

Complete the following:

  1. Set host name as ftp.yourdomain (ie ftp.yourbusiness.au.com. DO NOT use host name www.yourdomain.au.com)
  2. User ID and passwords, as provided by NetRegistry in the email sent to your company when you bought the service (if you have lost the codes please complete the request form and request them to be sent again).
  3. Set Host Type to Passive (or PASV), or autodetect
  4. Click OK

Updating/Viewing FTP details

  1. Login to the Console via https://theconsole.netregistry.com.au
  2. Click "Webhosting"
  3. Click "Click here to modify your FTP details"
  4. Click "View password"

Having problems connecting via FTP?

  1. Have you set your host to 'ftp.yourdomain.xx'?
  2. Have you set Hot Type to 'PASV' or 'Passive'?
  3. Is your domain name delegated to NetRegistry yet
