Generally not but there are some key exceptions.

  • Certificates of registration and transfer request authorisations must legally be sent to the true domain registrant.
  • You can also configure branded notifications to go direct to your clients (on a domain by domain basis) through the “reseller settings” and “manage contacts” areas of the console. If you select to send notifications direct to clients in the “manage contacts” area without first configuring the branding options under “modify reseller settings” then the client will receive Netregistry branded notifications. If this ever occurs and you’re unsure how to fix it please don’t hesitate to call.
Yes all notifications will go directly to the client.
What discount will I receive.
  • Domains: A price list is available upon request. .com domains are $16.50 per year. Au domains are $39.95 for 2yrs.
  • Hosting: 25% initially

  • Shopping Carts: 10%
All products are billed direct to the client at retail prices. 10% of all hosting purchases (including renewals) will be credited to your account. No commission is given for domain name purchases or renewals.
Can I make a customer an affiliate of mine if they already have an account with Netregistry? If they are already a client under your wholesale account. You can split them off to become an affiliate. If a client already has an account with Netregistry directly (even if you referred them) they can not be converted to become affiliated with your account. Affiliation can only be created when the clients account is first created.
Who bills the client You as the reseller bill the client at your own prices. Netregistry bills the client directly at retail price and 10% is credited to your account.
Who provides technical Support. You as the reseller will provide all technical support to clients under your wholesale account. If they call Netregistry they will be referred to you. Affiliate customers are supported directly by Netregistry so you can focus on your core business.
Do I need to choose between affiliate or wholesale for my whole account. Or can I decide on a client by client basis. You can choose on a client by client basis when placing each order whether they will go under your master reseller account or whether they will be setup with their own account as an affiliate customer.
Will affiliate customers know they are my client. N/A Yes. Their account login will be clearly labelled as being affiliated with your account.
Who gets technical control of services. You get master control of your wholesale account, and technical (domain level) control of every domain under your wholesale account through your master account login. You can safely give domain level access passwords (technical control) to your clients. Only your client gets master account level access to their affiliate account (for controlling contact details, credit cards and billing). As a reseller you get a list of all domains affiliated with your account accessible from your master account login, which gives you technical (domain level) access to each domain affiliated with your account. Your client will be made aware of this.
What if my client does not pay? Like any wholesale purchase, your billing relationship is with netregistry, so it is wise to secure payment from your client before placing orders as most purchases including renewals are not refundable. Commission rebates are only payable to the reseller after payment is received from the affiliate customer.
Can my customers place online orders in a way that connects them with my reseller account. No. Only the reseller can place orders under your wholesale account. Not yet, however we are planning to launch a re-branded version of our ordering pages (accessible to your clients via your website) to allow them to purchase services from Netregistry that will be affiliated with your account.

What is the Netregistry private label reseller program?

Designed to globally best-of-breed standards, Netregistry's private label reseller program allows domain and hosting resellers to offer their customers a 100% reliable administration interface to their domain name and any services associated with it, branded in the style of their own web site. Who is the Netregistry private label reseller program for?

Currently the Netregistry private label reseller program is designed to meet the needs of companies that have their own billing relationships with their clients. Typically these companies are web hosting companies and web designers. [top]

How much Internet or HTML experience do I need to be a reseller?

You will need to have your own web site and, assuming you are comfortable editing it you will know enough HTML to be a Netregistry reseller. [top]

What is your pricing structure for the resellers program?

Our domain name prices are available here. Resellers of email, hosting and ecommerce services attract discounts of 35% to 50% off our recommended retail price (RRP). Search engine optimisation services attract discounts varying between 10% and 30% off RRP. [top]

How do I qualify for the 50% discount?

50% discounts are available for resellers who have either purchased significant amounts of services from Netregistry, or who are willing to migrate a significant number of services. The qualifying amount that we see as significant is available on application. [top]

How much can I earn?

Because your customers are managing their domain names and hosting services in your own branded environment, they need not know how much you pay for our services. Hence you can charge fees that you feel are appropriate for the level of service you offer your customers and earn a significant income from reselling our domain names and hosting services. [top]

I only want to buy domain names off you. Is this a problem?

Not at all. The majority of our reseller partners currently use Netregistry for domain name registration alone. [top]

What is the minimum requirement for maintaining reseller status?

There is no minimum spend required. [top]

Does it cost me to become a Netregistry reseller?

There is no cost whatsoever involved in signing up. [top]

Will I get support?

You can request unlimited support from Netregistry, on behalf of yourself and your customers that use our services. However your customers will themselves not be able to get support directly from Netregistry. [top]

Will Netregistry remain anonymous to my clients?

Netregistry will not contact your clients. [top]

Does Netregistry offer an API?

Netregistry does provide APIs to some customers on a bespoke basis (e.g. Australian Computer Society manages it’s email services via an API). Please contact our sales team for more information. [top]

Can my clients register domains on my website and it automatically goes through my account with you, so I don't have to manually do it?

Currently this service is not available. [top]

Can you give me a 'whois' script to put on my site?

Whois scripts, that enable your customers to search for available domain names on your web site, are commonly available online. [top]

How long does it take to be approved to be a reseller?

Genuine Resellers will be approved within one working day. [top]


Transfers FAQ

I have several sites with another web host and would like to move them over to Netregistry under my reseller account. Is there an easy way to do this?

There are a number of solutions to aid this exercise. You can ask your account manager to set up temporary hosting accounts, so you can test our hosting before migration. And, for large migrations our technical team can help you move your data and configuration information.

I have a lot of domain names, with many different registrars, how do I do a bulk transfer?

.au domain names can be migrated in bulk by simply uploading a spreadsheet, available from within The Console™ admin panel. This is free and does not require you to pay for the domain name renewals at the same time.

Other domain names, like .com require you to renew the domain names as you transfer from one registrar to another. A bulk transfer of .com domain names is only available on request. [top]

May I promote my site with bulk email?

Senders of bulk email should make sure they adhere to relevant spam legislation. In the event of deliberate transmission of unsolicited commercial email (UCE), Netregistry reserves it right to terminate services without prior notification. [top]


Payment FAQs

How does the billing process work ?

Resellers can pay for new purchases and renewals via a wide range of methods. You can prepay monies into your Netregistry account, store encrypted credit card information, make BPAY payments, or sign-up for direct debits.

When you are required to pay for a purchase, or a renewal, you can choose to pay for that service using any of the above methods. In the case of service renewals, you can ask us to automatically debit your credit card. [top]

Do I have to pay for my resold accounts before my customers pay me?

Resellers with a trading history at Netregistry can elect to pay for services within 30 days terms. Domain name registrations are not available on account. [top]

Can I pay by cheque?

Yes. You can pre-pay your account by cheque. [top]

How is billing handled?

At the point of registration or renewal, invoices are emailed automatically for domain name transactions. Purchases or renewals of services are sent by post. A copy of your entire invoice and payments history is available online, and duplicate invoices can be downloaded. [top]

How do I determine the price to charge my customers?

You can choose to charge your customers whatever amount you think is reasonable. [top]

One of my clients hasn’t paid me, are you still going to bill me?

Credit control is your own risk, however for annual renewals of hosting services we send you a kindly reminder at 11 months. [top]

How is customer support handled for my customers?

As a reseller, you will be responsible for all support. If you unable to resolve an issue, you can of course call our support team. However, our support team cannot assist calls received directly from a resellers’ customer. [top]

The Console™ FAQs

When I tell my clients to login, do I just give them my au.com domain instead of theconsole URL, and the rebranded web site should come up?

No. You will need to have your clients login in on your existing web site and they will be transferred to secure web page on your elected au.com domain name. [top]

How does the branded admin website work?

Your customers can access your branded admin website to instantly manage their domain name and services. Management is driven via a java middleware API to the customer data stored at Netregistry and is instantaneous and error free. [top]

Does The Console™ work on a Mac?

The Console™ works fully on a Mac, although you may lose certain functions of the WYSIWYG editor when rebranding the customer control panel. We recommend the use of a PC for this action. [top]

Why do I have to use an au.com domain name for my branded admin website?

We require all our customers to manage their domain names and services via a secure connection, and not all our resellers have a secure certificate on their domain name. Hence we provide a free au.com branded admin website, with a secure certificate included, to enable this secure access. Currently we are unable to provide a branded admin website on your own domain name, even if you do have a secure certificate. [top]

How do I manage the design of the branded admin website?

You can control the look and feel of the branded admin website via your own reseller login. You can simply upload the HTML that forms the header, footer and left hand toolbar of your branded admin website. You can also upload a style sheet to influence the text fonts, colours, and borders of any tables within the branded admin website.

Click 'view/modify' and you will be able to manage customer theme, editing everything from style sheets, headers, footers and the left hand tool bar.

How do I edit the notification emails?

When you login in to your The Console™ admin panel you can edit all the notification emails. You can also choose to turn some on, and others off. For instance, you may choose to turn off the purchase notification emails, and just retain the renewal notifications.

From within The Console, you can use an online WYSIWYG editor to edit the notifications easily, as if you were editing a Microsoft Word document. You can use a number of merge variables like {domain} and {firstname} to personalise your communications.

You can create a colourful branded HTML versions and test versions. If your customer has an HTML enabled email client, they will see the HTML version; otherwise they will see the text version.

How do I automatically register new domain names to my name servers?

When you are logged in to The Console, you can choose to define default name servers. Every domain name registration you order will be automatically delegated to those name servers on registration. [top]

How do I manage images in my Branded Admin Web site?

The branded admin website is accessed in secure mode, so any images in the branded admin website must be accessed securely. You can achieve this two ways:

  1. You can upload your images into The Console™ via your online login (follow the links above to "modify your reseller account settings", then "manage uploaded images". You can reference those images in the HTML absolutely. e.g. <img src="image1.gif">

  2. Or, you can access the images directly from your own web site, however you will need a secure server running on your web site. e.g. <img src="https://www.yourdomain.com.au/images/image1.gif"> [top]

How do I automatically register new domain names to my name servers?

You may want to set your name servers to be default, so each time you register a domain name the domain name is automatically registered to your name servers.

Login to 'modify your reseller account settings' and you will be presented with a screen that allows you to define your default name servers.

Name servers

You only need to provide your hostnames, we will automatically work out the I.P. numbers for your name servers.

You can still use a branded admin web site, so your customers can administer their domain name automatically. [top]
