Free DNS

This service allows clients, who have VPS Hosting with Netregistry, to use our free online DNS interface to manage their domain names thus ensuring they do not need to run nameservers on their VPS(s).  They can make changes to a Domain Name Zone File , including the ability to modify MX records, A records, sub domains, etc. This service utilises Netregistry’s redundant name servers.

To use the Free DNS interface for your domain name, the following steps will help you out:

  1. Login to the Netregistry console located at https://theconsole.netregistry.com.au
  2. Select the grey Service administration tab at the top of the page
  3. Select your server ID
  4. Scroll down the page to the sub heading: DNS Interface
  5. Add the domain name you wish to manage into the box and click add – the page will refresh
  6. Scroll down the page again to the same sub heading and click on the domain name you just added
  7. The screen now displayed gives you the option to manage the DNS records for the domain. N.B: The warning at the top of this page does not apply to Dedicated servers using the Free DNS interface
  8. To add records: Click the record type at the top of the box and follow the steps on the page depending on the type of record.
To edit records: Click the edit button next to the record and follow the steps on the page.
To remove the record: Click the delete button next to remove the record
  9. Once you have added the records you require and are ready for this zone to be the active one, change the Name Servers of the domain to be:
    ns1.netregistry.net
    ns2.netregistry.net
    ns3.netregistry.net
  10. Allow up to 48 hours for DNS changes to propagate through the Internet
