You have been given serveral kinds of passwords and types of authentication to keep your account as secure as possible – and because there are different levels of log in, we recommend you keep all your passwords different. It can seem confusing, but the table below should clarify the differences between each of your passwords and user names.
|Account reference||Your Master Account level console username. An Account Reference (Acc Ref) is initially emailed to the account email address, which was required at the time the account was setup.||The Netregistry Console Login page. It usually takes a form similar to one of these examples: ABC-123 or ABCDEF. Account level details should not be provided to anyone. When speaking to NR support, the One-Off code may be accepted instead.|
|Account password||The password corresponding to the Account Reference which allows access to the Master Account level console. A temporary Account password is mailed out at the time of account set up. It must be changed to a user defined password when first used to access the console.||The Netregistry Console Login page. Your Account level details should not be provided to anyone. When speaking to NR support, you can provide a One-Off code instead.|
|Domain console username||This gives access to the Domain level console. This information is initially emailed to the account email address, which was required at the time the domain name was setup. If this is a first domain registration on an account, it will have been included with the Master Console Account Reference and Password set up email.||The Netregistry Console Login page. It usually takes a form similar to this: abab1234. Domain level login details may be provided to any developer requiring it, but should be changed periodically.|
|Domain FTP Details||These are used connect directly with the web hosting server and allows you to upload filles to your website. This password can be the same or different from the domain level password.||FTP password details may be provided to any developer requiring it, but should be changed periodically.|
|One-Off Code||The one-off code can only be generated by logging into a console at the customer end. This code has absolutely no value to anybody else and cannot be used in any way to access account information. Its purpose is to identify a caller to the Netregistry Support centre. There are two kinds of one off code: the account level and the domain level codes.||When requesting any assistance from a Netregistry Support staff. May be provided instead of giving Account reference or password details over the phone or email.|
|Domain password||Many registrars often refer to a domain password. This password is used only when transferring domain names between owners or registrars. A domain password is also known as an Auth code, an EPP Password, or a domain transfer code. New Zealand (.nz) domain passwords are known as UDAI passwords. These passwords are unique for each domain name and aren't used to access any Netregistry account or domain level console. Note: an Incorrect Password error may be received when attempting to use a domain password. Ensure the password is the correct Authcode or EPP password. Regardless of registrar, a correct .au domain password can be obtained from auDA.||Used to transfer:|
|Email password||Password specific to the email account (or address) - e.g. firstname.lastname@example.org. This may be changed by accessing the domain level console or directly via Webmail.||Email passwords can be used by any email software to access the email server.Webmail also requires the email password to log in.|
